Shuster Joins Trump for Executive Order Signing on EPA WOTUS Rule

Congressman Bill Shuster (R-Hollidaysburg) joined President Donald Trump in the Oval Office today for a signing of an executive order that will begin a formal review of the Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule.
"I've been a leading voice in the House in opposition to this job killing EPA rule, and it is great news for Pennsylvania's farmers and homebuilders that we finally have a partner in the White House that understands the negative impact this power grab will have on our economy and property rights,"said Congressman Bill Shuster. "Today's news is a clear sign that the Trump Administration will follow through on its promise to stand with the states, local governments and America's farmers, manufacturers, businesses, and communities, who all voiced strong concerns with the flawed WOTUS rule and expansion of federal power that was pushed through by the Obama Administration."
As Chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Congressman Shuster has been a major advocate for stopping the Obama Administration's WOTUS rule. He has introduced legislation like the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act to require the EPA to withdraw their rule and he has chaired hearings in the 9th Congressional District and Washington, DC to highlight the significant implications this rule would have on the economy. Congressman Shuster also helped advance S.J. Res 22, a resolution of congressional disapproval that passed both the House and Senate. President Obama vetoed this attempt to reject the administration's sweeping government power grab.
"The previous Administration stood in the way of several attempts by the House and Senate to bring this rule back to the drawing board," continued Shuster. "President Trump's executive order shows strong leadership that I hope will result in a much better rule that takes into account the interests of the American people while protecting clean water and health through practical regulation."
